Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has stated that he does not see Alexis Sanchez staying at Arsenal for a long time if the club does not improve, especially with its ability to challenge for trophies.
Sanchez has been a massive addition for Arsenal and he is the third highest scorer in the Premier League with nine goals. He is also the only Arsenal player to have entered into double figures for this campaign. His goals have helped Arsenal get crucial points against the likes of Sunderland, but his presence alone has not been enough to keep the club in the title challenge.
The latest 3-2 defeat against Stoke City has left Arsenal sixth in the table with just a few weeks before Christmas. After having been used to winning titles at his previous club Barcelona, Sanchez will want to do the same at the most productive time in his career. The 25-year-old will attract the attention of other top clubs if Arsenal do not satisfy his hunger with trophies according to Wright. The gunners may have ended the trophy drought that lasted nine years with the FA Cup title last summer, but they seem now close enough to winning another trophy this season. Arsenal were 3-0 down at half-time against Stoke, but they put up a spirited comeback in the second half.
“Wonder what Sanchez is thinking right now? If we carry on like this he’ll leave us!” said Wright on his Twitter account. Sanchez came to the Emirates stadium for £ 35 million, which is now seen as a bargain. The Chilean international has already featured in most matches for Arsenal and there is a risk of burnout. It is likely that Arsenal may look to rest him in the upcoming Champions League action. Even though Arsenal have a chance of topping the group, they are likely to focus on the league.
