Wright urges Chambers to leave Arsenal

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has urged Calum Chambers to leave Arsenal.

He believes that the player will not progress if he stays at Arsenal and it is better for him that he leaves the club. He said that the player will find it hard to get playing time now with Rob Holding into the team. Indeed the player was not selected in the game against Leicester City and was replaced by Holding in the team.

Ian Wright said that he does not understand why Arsene Wenger is not starting Chambers ahead of Holding and that he believes that the player will damage his career if he stays at Arsenal. Ian Wright said that Holding was in a team that shipped 80 goals last season, and he cannot understand why Arsene Wenger is starting him ahead of Chambers.
Ian Wright said that he is sad for Chambers. He said that Arsenal paid a big fee to Southampton for the player and that he is a player that is well loved by the fans. He believes that it will be in the best interest of the player to leave the club and get regular football elsewhere.

Arsenal currently have Per Mertesacker and Gabriel injured, and it is believed that when they return Calum Chambers will fall down the pecking order again. However, there are reports that Wenger might be converting the player into a defensive midfielder, and this may allow him to get some game time especially in a midfield that is so injury prone.

Ian Wright has also urged Arsene Wenger to spend big before the end of the transfer window. He said that the team would struggle badly this season if no addition is made to the squad. He said that fans would be angry if the situation stays the same until the end of the transfer window.
