IAN WRIGHT BELIEVES UNITED CAN WIN PREMIER LEAGUE

With every season that passes, a lot of people including pundits and football fans weigh in on the topic of whether Manchester United are really to be considered as title contenders, and people keep maintaining their different stands and opinions.

Such has been the level of decline that has befallen a great club like Manchester United, who last won their Premier League title in 2013, seven years ago after their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson won the title for the last time and announced his retirement after a long-term service he rendered.

Since his retirement, different managers have been appointed to try and bring back the Premier League crown to Old Trafford, but none of them was lucky enough to achieve the goal. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, the club have acquired the services of and retrenched David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, and José Mourinho.

Now, they are at the mercy of former striker Olé Gunnar Solskjær who they hope will finally break the jinx. Since Solskjær’s appointment, there have been mixed performances and results in and around the club, and while some pundits and fans are calling for him to be sacked, others are voting for him to be awarded more time.

Former England striker Ian Wright was asked if Manchester United could win the Premier League trophy this season, and immediately said “no-no”. However, he changed his mind and said yes, they can win it, and then wish them good luck.

United needed a penalty to defeat West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday – their first home win in the league this season in five attempts and are yet to register a goal from open play at home in the Premier League this season.
